Consulting & Design

WHOLE BUILDING DESIGN – “From the ground up,” design services on hush houses, test cells, test stands, and other noise suppressors. This includes facilities for installed or uninstalled engine testing, completely or partially enclosed testing, or outdoor testing facilities, such as ground run-up enclosures and power check pads.

DESIGN CONSULTING – Technical and subject matter expert consulting for hush houses, test cells, and noise suppressors.  This includes construction of new facilities and remodel, renovation or refurbishment of existing facilities.  It also includes, incorporating new design concepts, materials, or methodology to improve facility efficiency and/or cost effectiveness.

SCOPE DOCUMENTATION – Preparation of a project and scope documents.  This includes documents such as contract or shop drawings, project specifications, statement of objectives, statement of work, repair or corrective action plans, or other project scope documents.

ENGINEERING STUDIES –Studies for overall facility design, or systems design.  This includes finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal transfer, computational aeroacoustics (CAA), and other technical studies.

PERFORMANCE TESTING – Sound testing of engine test facilities.  This includes overall acoustical performance for near-field and far-field performance, thermal flow, and cell depression analysis. This also includes performance evaluations of various equipment and systems within test facilities.

INSPECTIONS –Inspection services on hush houses, test cells, and noise suppressors.  This includes overall assessment to determine current state of readiness of the facility or the readiness of any system used in these facilities.  It also includes failure inspections of damaged or non-functioning equipment or systems to determine root cause for establishment of corrective action or repair plans.

COST & LIFE CYCLE ASESSMENT – Cost of ownership evaluations.  This includes detailed assessment of cost vs. performance benefit, initial cost vs. cost of ownership over lifetime, and complete cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment.

Fabrication & Manufacturing

STRUCTURES – Close-tolerance steel-framed, concrete, or hybrid structures designed and fabricated to withstand the vibration and thermal energy present in engine test facilities.  This includes hush house structures for installed engine testing, test cells structures for uninstalled engine testing, and smaller structures for personnel or equipment such as portable test cabs or control rooms.

ACOUSTICAL PANELS & PILLOWS – Rigid and semi-rigid sound-absorbing baffles fabricated from the finest raw materials to the strictest quality standards.  Panel types include one-sided panels fabricated for mounting on walls or ceilings, or as dividers, diverters, or deflectors, two-sided panels fabricated as air splitters or deflector panels, special application panels such as septum panels, curved panels, etc.  Pillow types include those fabricated for inclusion into acoustical panels or as stand-alone semi-rigid baffles such as curved high temperature augmenter pillows, etc.

ACOUSTICAL DOORS AND WINDOWS – Doors and windows designed to absorb sound or reduce sound transmission between internal spaces or to the outside.  This includes large rolling hangar-style acoustical doors, bi-parting doors, top-hung doors, hinged single or double-leaf doors for personnel and engine access, control room windows, external viewing windows, and other specialty applications.

SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT – Equipment and electro-mechanical systems fabricated especially for use in and around test facilities.  This includes engine air start systems, fuel and preservation oil delivery systems, aircraft restraints and restraint proof load test systems, facility control and annunciation instrumentation systems, closed-circuit television systems, engine control and instrumentation systems, communications systems, and fire annunciation and suppression systems.  This also includes some proprietary and specialty application equipment designed for a specific facility type and application.  This includes our VSTOL blast grating system, facility exhaust temperature indication system, portable engine access platforms, aircraft spotting dolly, FOD cages and screens, instrumentation booms, and more.

Construction & Erection

TURN-KEY CONSTRUCTION – Complete general contracting and construction of design/build, or pre-designed hush houses, test cells, and noise suppressors.  This includes all phases of construction including civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, and acoustical.

BUILDING DISASSEMBLY & ERECTION – Complete disassembly of existing deployable-type test facilities and/or erection of facilities.  This includes refurbishment or relocation projects, as well as erection and installation of new or stock noise suppressors.

EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION – Installation of new or refurbished equipment and systems at new or existing locations.  This includes installation of acoustical panels, pillows, and support systems, electro-mechanical systems such as engine air start systems, fuel and preservation oil delivery systems, aircraft restraints and restraint proof load test systems, facility control and annunciation instrumentation systems, closed-circuit television systems, engine control and instrumentation systems, communications systems, and fire annunciation and suppression systems.

Repair & Maintenance

MINOR REPAIRS – Repair of equipment or systems in test facilities.  This includes, repairs performed on active and inactive facilities such as damaged acoustical panel and pillow replacement, door and window repairs, electrical and lighting system repairs, facility control systems repair, closed-circuit television system installation, and more.

MAJOR REFURBISHMENT – Disassembly and refurbishment of whole facilities or complete systems or equipment to a like-new operating condition.  This includes structural repair/replacement, complete acoustical panel and pillow replacement, augmenter re-packing, acoustical door and window repair/replacement, electrical system replacement, and more.

FACILITY RETROFITS – Upgrades to existing facilities. This includes upgrades that increase the operational capability or performance, lower operational or maintenance costs, or that enhances the facility operators ability to conduct testing more time-efficient or increases safety in facility operations.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE – Performance of maintenance tasks associated with test facilities.  This includes routine and preventative tasks such as lubrication, air inlet cleaning and de-fodding, window cleaning, thermocouple/heat element replacement, replacement of various electrical component devices, miscellaneous mechanical component replacement, and more.
